Below we have listed all possible Lafayette College-funded grant/scholarship assistance along with specific conditions. Institutional funds are subject to full-time enrollment, maintaining satisfactory academic progress, and are limited to a maximum of eight semesters.
This academic scholarship is renewable each year as long as you meet Lafayette’s academic progress standards and maintain a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average (GPA). Cumulative GPA is calculated at the end of each academic year. A scholar who loses their eligibility is still eligible to apply for need-based financial aid. The resulting financial aid package would be based on demonstrated financial need in accordance with standard financial aid policies and satisfactory academic progress.
This merit-based award is renewable each year for the same amount.
This need-based award is based on our thorough analysis of the data submitted on the Financial Aid Application and breakdown of college costs. Financial aid eligibility is determined on an annual basis. You must submit the necessary applications, demonstrate need, maintain satisfactory academic progress, and be enrolled full time.
This is based on the conditions indicated on your signed grant-in-aid agreement.
This full-tuition scholarship is awarded by Lafayette College to students selected through the Posse Foundation.
Below we have listed information about federal and state grant and loan assistance along with specific conditions. Students must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States to receive funds from the U.S. federal government, and residents of the state from which they are receiving state grant funding. If you are awarded any federal and/or state grants after our initial aid determination, the Lafayette College Grant portion of your financial aid award will be reduced by the amount of the federal and/or state grant aid.
Eligibility for a federal or state grants is determined by your financial need and/or FAFSA. Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress to remain eligible in subsequent years, and a new FAFSA must be submitted for each academic year.
Eligibility for a job is determined by your financial need and/or FAFSA and all other aid you have been awarded. These funds will not appear as credit on your bill since wages are paid to you directly once you begin working. Students who do not qualify for federal work study are still eligible to work on campus.
Students must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible for a federal loan. To request your Federal Direct Loan eligibility that is not currently listed on your College Financing Plan (CFP), please complete the request form.
Financial assistance is awarded one academic year at a time. Each year’s need-based award is based on costs in effect for that year and review of all required documents.
Lafayette guarantees to meet full demonstrated need as long as all filing deadlines are met. The College cannot guarantee to meet the need of late filers. Please review our late policy.
Financial aid/resources for any academic year may not exceed the total cost of attendance at Lafayette in effect for that academic year.
Lafayette encourages and rewards students for seeking outside funding to help meet their college expenses. Students who are receiving aid from the College must notify the Office of Financial Aid immediately of outside funding they receive. Outside scholarships may be used to reduce or eliminate the job and/or loan components of a student’s aid award. Grants and/or scholarships from the College will be reduced only when total resources exceed our total costs of attendance. Tuition benefits, Tuition Exchange, and federal and state grants are not considered outside scholarships. Student-athletes are subject to NCAA and Patriot League guidelines.
Maximum timeframe aid consideration is limited to eight semesters. If a student leaves at any point during a semester in which institutional financial aid is received, that semester will count as one of the eight semesters of aid.
Financial aid is a partnership between the family and the College. Should parents reduce or discontinue financial support, Lafayette cannot replace the parents’ expected contribution.
Invoices for each semester are available online in early July for the fall semester and in early December for the spring semester. Financial aid awards are divided equally between the two semesters.
